St. Matthew’s Families;

Welcome back to another great year of Catholic education! I would like to take stock and thank all of you and acknowledge our blessings. The greatest blessing is the amazing families and staff at St. Matthew’s Catholic School. Your generous, spirit-filled energy and care makes this school a special place. On behalf of the faculty and staff, we look forward to providing the same outstanding education to our students, once again. We have spent the summer preparing for another school year at St. Matthew’s. The school is ready for the return of the students and set to continue the tradition of excellence set before us!

Our first day of school will be Wednesday, August 25th, which is a half day (We will have noon dismissal.). We will start full days on Thursday, August 26th and include our hot lunch program. At this time lunch prices will remain $2.00 (for lunch with milk). If you have not done so already, please take the time to fill out the free and reduced lunch forms attached, even if you do not plan on taking advantage of this program, or do not think you would qualify. Our Title 1 funding and computer E-rate funding depends on the free and reduced lunch forms. By all filling out this form, it ensures that our students will get the maximum amount of federal funding for Title 1 and E-Rate.

All Kindergarten families and new families are invited to a “Boo-Hoo Breakfast” Wednesday morning from 8:45-9:15. Please join us in the cafeteria for orientation, coffee, and rolls!

On Wednesday, August 25th right after the noon dismissal, Dr. Al Olszewski will be in the school gym conducting sports physicals for all students grades 5th-8th who will be participating in school sports this year. Medical forms are available in the school office, and will need to be filled out and signed prior to the physicals. We would like to thank Dr. Olszewski and his wife Nancee for this service. A free will offering can be made to St. Matthew’s Athletic Association. All offerings are greatly appreciated.

St. Matthew’s Back to School Ice Cream Social will be Sunday August 23rd, outside the church after the 11am mass. This is the perfect time for students and their parents to meet their teacher and join us for ice cream and a uniform shirt exchange. Don’t forget to bring in your shirts to the school office anytime before the ice cream social.

Kindergarten parents: Please make sure the school has a copy of your child’s immunization records and birth certificate.

7th grade parents: Please make sure that the school has a copy of your child’s booster shot.

This year, our school office is making an extra special effort to improve our communication network with our families. We plan to send emails regarding school news and information on a regular basis as well as send the weekly “White Envelope” home once week. Can you help us by making sure that our school office has your email address?
