St. Matthew’s Families:
Our theme this week is: “He has done all things well.” In following Jesus, let us also “do all things well.”
Lent begins next Wednesday, February 17th. Your children will attend Ash Wednesday mass at 8:45. The classes will focus on the discipleship monthly themes of prayer and gratitude this Lent. One way of serving is to bring items in for the social concerns food pantry. Items currently in high demand are pasta, cold cereal, and hamburger helper. Thank you for contributing what you can.
The School Spelling Bee (for 5th-8th grades) will be held Wednesday, February 17th after the 8:45 Ash Wednesday mass in the gym.
A total of 40 hours are expected to be completed per family (20 hours for single parent households). All families are expected to volunteer their time and talent to the school through volunteer hours. Auction hours should comprise 5 of the total hours volunteered. There are many ways to help the auction. Volunteers are needed to set up and clean up. Call the office and Charlie will sign you up! Volunteer hours not fulfilled will be multiplied by $15 per hour and billed to the family.
The lost and found boxes are overflowing. There are many pants, sweatshirts, and snow boots that have not been claimed. The 5th-8th grade classes all went through the lost and found, but there are many items remaining. Mrs. Hall is holding the items in her room until Friday. On Friday she will donate the clothes and boots to Social Concerns and Salvation Army. Come collect your child’s things before Friday!
The 8th grade has made a deal with their parents. If they make the honor roll, they can go to Silverwood. They are not only responsible for earning the trip, but funding it as well. The 8th grade will be selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts on Fat Tuesday. Order some for your work place in advance. A green flier has been sent home with more information.
Attention altar servers: During lent Fr. Vic will say an additional mass at 12:10 every Wednesday. A new schedule will be printed and sent home by next Monday reflecting the changes.
Thanks for being involved parents,
Joanna Eichner
Principal of St. Matthew’s School
